Dealing With Stress On the Battlefield of Life

The Bhagavad-Gita, India’s great philosophical text, states that the highest definition of yoga is the ability to stay aware, relaxed and grounded while on the battlefield of life; a state that is call steady wisdom.

For most people, this steady wisdom is an elusive, philosophical concept, far from the reality of their lives.

Even for those highly committed to health and wellbeing, relaxation is temporary and conditional. It is usually experienced while practicing a relaxation technique or during body therapy such as massage.?

Both beginner and advanced meditators rarely experience relaxation as an ongoing, unconditional state that endures when problems, challenges and losses arise.

Maintaining deep relaxation is challenging because deep-seated tensions, powerful forces that are stored in the subconscious mind, constantly surface into our awareness or, worse, drive our behaviour unconsciously. They stem from life experience, from childhood, and even from past lives, and are stored in the subconscious as impressions called samskaras.

While guided relaxation techniques such as Yoga Nidra are wonderful tools for dealing with these tensions, they are a beginning point, not an end.

Without training, these subconscious tensions easily resurface to create anxiety and to destabilize our equanimity. This is because for most people, the power of the subconscious is much stronger than their ability to relax at will.

This explains why people often swing between feeling relaxed in one moment then tense and worried in the next. They haven’t learned how to maintain relaxation and stability while worries and anxieties are arising from their subconscious mind.

The first 3 steps provide the antidote to stress. They enable you to better deal with external pressure, worries and anxieties.

Step 1. relax the muscles and nervous system

Step 2. relax the breath and cultivate energy

Step 3. relax the mind and emotions

The next two steps deepen relaxation so that it becomes second nature and part of your personality:

Step 4.?engage with and relax your subconscious mind

Step 5. connect to your spiritual essence.

It is this step-wise progression that develops the skill of deep and steady relaxation.

Progressing through the above steps takes relaxation to a whole new level. Instead of oscillating between states of relaxation and tension, being at the mercy of your subconscious mind, you develop a holistic, unconditional, relaxed state that underpins all of your experiences.

This state is conducive to the development of resilient health and wellbeing, and engenders a great sense of self-confidence in the face of life’s challenges.

The Online Meditation Classes for Deep Relaxation, Healing and Inner Peace will take you through the 5 steps over 6 lessons.

These classes transform the philosophy and steady wisdom of?the Bhagavad-Gita into practice so that you can remain aware, grounded and relaxed under difficult circumstances.
